When will book three of the Nightmusic Trilogy be available?
It's available in digital format right now! And will be in print June 24, 2019.
Is that the end of the Nightmusic Series? Could there be another book added someday?
Never say never! There is so much more to explore with those characters. A whole novel could be written about what happens when they go back to the mountain. Marlene and Oliver could definitely have their own story.
What are you working on right now?
So many irons in the fire! I've just completed an adult Romance/Thriller that I am very excited about, and am working on a new adult thriller that is terrifying the pants of me at night. Is that a good thing? Oh yes! I'll start posting snippets soon so check back here once in a while.
Do you have any advice for aspiring writers?
Write for yourself, and if you love it, others will too.
What inspired you to write SERENADE?
I was in my local bookstore one afternoon with my daughter while she searched the Teen/Young Adult section in frustration. She didn’t want vampires, or witches, or dystopian worlds, she wanted a modern-day adventure with characters that felt real. So, being the doting mother that I am, I started writing her a book. One month into the process, I was quitting my day job and focusing entirely on learning how to write. A love triangle, the romantic setting of the rocky mountains, the art of survival and a character whose strength builds with each page... it all began to come to life every time I sat down to write, and four years later I was writing full time. I realized when I completed the first manuscript, that what I was essentially trying to get across to my daughter was the understanding of true love; what it feels like and how you know when you’ve found it. And, that nobody is perfect–even characters in books make mistakes.
How much of SERENADE is realistic?
I tried to make the book feel like it could actually happen. The characters are completely fictional, but the setting is not. Caves and underground hot springs and the castle in the mountains? All real. The Death Race that takes place every August in Grande Cache? Real–those peeps be crazy!
Do you have any other books coming out soon?
So many ideas, so little time! I have book one of a series I hope to put out next year, and book three of The Nightmusic Trilogy is near completion and will be available this winter.
Where are you from?
Edmonton, Alberta, CANADA! I was born in the city, then moved to a beautiful acreage with ducks and horses and strawberry patches to live my teen years in an absolute fairy tale until I left to join a rock band and play professionally. Eventually, I moved back, got married there, and got to watch my children have the same amount of happiness there as I did.
Do you still write music?
Yes. Music is my first love and there is nothing better than sitting at the piano and pouring my heart out. I love nothing more than getting into the studio and putting all that emotion on tape.
How much time do you spend writing each day?
8-10 hours a day, 6 days a week. Sunday I unplug.
Did you always know you wanted to be a writer?
Heck no. Twenty years ago I would have laughed my ass off if you would have said I’d be at a computer dreaming up fiction. Nope… I was a singer/songwriter with tunnel vision and nothing else mattered. Then one day…
I found a typo in one of your books!
Oops! Consider yourself the owner of a very special print copy and treasure it always. Rest assured that the digital formats have been updated, and so have all second-pressing print copies.
